35. Strong First – Enter SFG, the constantly updated and refined version of Pavel’s original kettlebell cert—20 years and over 30 editions of the instructor manual later and still light years ahead of everyone else.

SFG—“G” for girya, or kettlebell—is Strong First’s flagship certification. While strength is the focus of our school at large, SFG pursues broader “extreme fitness” and resilience with strength at its foundation. Like every Strong First instructor certification—kettlebell, barbell, bodyweight—SFG strongly stands on its own—while all perfectly fit together into a system.

36. SGF2 – Take your Kettlebell Instructor skills up to the next level. Strong First’s kettlebell curriculum and training methodology have been developed and refined by our Founder and CEO, Pavel Tsatsouline, for well over a decade. At the SFG II, each candidate must recertify their SFG I skills—and then meet an even higher standard of strength, movement skills, and coaching. Like our SFG I Certification, the SFG II is led by our Strong First Certified Master Instructors.

37. SFL – Barbell the SFL programming of choice is classic cycling—the system behind US powerlifting dominance in the golden era of the sport and many records that still stand decades later. The beauty of this system—in addition to the gold medal pedigree—is its simplicity and time efficiency.

Ron Fernando, a powerlifter who competed during the golden age of the sport, wrote an article entitled “Quest for Simplicity in the 21stCentury” in Powerlifting USA. He started by waxing nostalgic about the best car he had ever owned, a 1980 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta. The ride was fast, easy to maintain, even by an amateur, and it looked good too. He compared it to modern fancy wheels with computers, with too many features and options, a forbidding service bill, and an absolute impossibility to fix at home.

The old-school powerlifter drew parallels with strength training systems of yesterday and today: “These systems, like classic muscle cars, will never go out of date and in many cases will outperform anything touted as new, high tech, or scientific today.”

38. Strong Fist Bodyweight – Our goal is to make you come away from the Strong First Bodyweight Strength Instructor Certification stronger and wiser. You should be able to look at a great many strength feats and exercises—and quickly reverse-engineer them. You might not be able to do them yet—but you will know exactly how to train for them. With the millions of degrees of freedom possible for our bodies, it is an endless and pointless process to catalog a multitude of exercises and their variations: giving you the fish and making you dependent to come back for more. Instead, we will teach you how to fish. Once you have internalized the universal principles of strength, you will be able to quickly apply them to any new strength or gymnastic skills.

“The knowledge of some principles easily compensates for the ignorance of some facts.”

This quote by philosopher Claude Helvétius appeared in the late Prof. Yuri Verkhoshansky’s last book. It perfectly sums up what we do at the Strong First Bodyweight Strength Instructor Certification.
